What is innovation?

Theodore Levitt, who died in 2006, was an American economist and professor at Harvard Business School. Levitt was known for popularizing the term ‘globalization’. He also said – “Creativity is thinking up new things. Innovation is doing new things.”

This raises many questions.

One of course is whether innovation only ever follows creativity? Or can you have innovation without creativity? Whatever the answer may be, arguably, creativity is beneficial. It improves productivity and quality, enhances the chances of innovation, and boosts motivation.

It is never a better time than now to encourage more innovation.
